CLIFTON FORGE — Janice Simpson Fridley, 89, of 1711 Forest Hills Avenue, Clifton Forge, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.
She was born March 7, 1928, in Covington, a daughter of the late Lee Andrew and Martha Fridley Simpson.
She was a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse from Alleghany Regional Hospital.
She was also an avid Washington Redskins Fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Fridley Sr.; three sisters, Deenie Harmon, Bonnie Vail and Patricia McClung; and a brother, Robert Simpson.
She is survived by three sons, Rodney Fridley Jr. and wife Cindy of Florence, S.C., Ernest “Andy” Fridley, of Burke and David Searfoss of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Karen Simpson and husband Tim of Falls Church; two grandchildren, Sgt. Matthew Fridley, U.S. Army and Samantha Foster and husband Cameron; a great-granddaughter, Chey-enne Searfoss; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 2-4 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
