Dr. William Paul Fletcher, 91, died September 7, 2018 and was born November 15, 1926 in Harrisonburg, VA to Samuel P. Fletcher Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Patterson.
He graduated from Harrisonburg High school in 1945 and from Randolph Macon College in 1949 and was married the same week to Margaret (Bunny) Patterson McLean. He then attended the Medical College of Virginia.
Following a general internship he entered the U.S. Navy proudly serving as the ship’s doctor aboard the USS Pocono, flag ship of the Atlantic fleet.
He resigned the commission as Lt. Senior grade to begin family practice in Monterey, VA; later moving his practice to Covington, VA.
There he was actively involved in a busy practice, the First Presbyterian Church and served as chairman on the City School Board.
In 1969 he moved his practice to Harrisonburg, VA.
Services will be held September 14, 2018 at 10 am at the Meredith Chapel Sunnyside and September 15, 2018 at 10:30am at First Presbyterian Church on Court Square, Harrisonburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contributions can be made to the Massanetta Springs Conference Center and First Presbyterian Church, Harrisonburg, VA.
