CLIFTON?FORGE — The Clifton Forge Public Library’s Pre-school Story Time recently welcomed special guests Raymond Arrington, firefighter/EMT with the Clifton Forge Fire Department; and Timmy Downey, firefighter with the Sharon Fire Department.
They reviewed fire safety measures with the children.
Downey also dressed in his gear so the children could see how a firefighter’s appearance changes. He also explained the reason for each piece of his uniform and equipment.
Arrington and Downey invited the children to examine the gear and to try it on. They also gave each child a gift bag.
Prior to their visit, the children listened to the story “The Firefighters,” written by Sue Whiting, and read by Library Assistant Debra Henn.
The children learned a song about fire safety, made a fireman craft, and reviewed fire safety. Each child received an activity booklet that focused on fire safety. The children also enjoyed a snack.
Pre-school Story Time meets on the third Wednesday of the month. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
Parents or legal guardians are invited to bring their pre-school children, and should also plan to stay for the activities.
