CHRISTIANSBURG — The Alleghany swim team opened their season Saturday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in the Christiansburg Invitational.
David Donnan paced the Mountaineers, cutting nearly four seconds in both his 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke races.
Julia Bryant also dropped four seconds in her 200 yard freestyle as well as a second in her 100 yard butterfly.
The invitational featured the top teams in western Virginia as well as participants from Tennessee.
“This is a fantastic way to start the season,” said AHS?coach Lee Anne Bowling-Angle. “Everyone had a PR (personal record) in at least one swim and most had a PR in both. We really started out the season in a better position than expected.”
The Mountaineers swim tonight at the Salem YMCA against William Fleming.
