LEXINGTON — Vanna Hoke had her shooting stroke Saturday morning at Rockbridge County High School.
The Alleghany senior hit 5-of-6 shots from behind the arc and scored a career-high 17 points in the Mountaineers’ 51-39 win over Rockbridge County in the opener of the Rock The Ribbon Roundball Shootout.
Hoke scored 10 of her 17 points in the third quarter as Alleghany clawed out of a 24-18 halftime hole.
Darcy Ross added a 14-point, 17-rebound double-double for the Mounties, while Maggie Rooklin scored 10 points and had four assists.
Emily Galford had 14 points to lead the Wildcats (4-13) and Kessa Hall scored eight. Jorden Dunn grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds to go with six points.
Alleghany (12-4) is scheduled to go to James River tonight and to Carroll County on Wednesday before a home make-up game Friday night against Radford.
