Mounties Host Swim Meet

Alleghany hosted a four-team swim meet Wednesday at the Alleghany Highlands YMCA.
The Mountaineer girls defeated Glenvar (79-69) and William Fleming (104-19) and lost to William Byrd (86-65).
On the boys side, Alleghany beat Glenvar (44-12) and lost to Fleming (42-41) and Byrd (62-32).
David Donnan (100 butterfly) and Abby Martin (50 freestyle) posted individual wins.
AHS coach Lee Anne Bowling-Angle cited Julia Bryant, Donnan, Martin, Kiersten Smith, Caydance Ramsey, Keegan Williams, Olivia Kerns, Alexis Ostling and Cory Ouimette for swimming PR (personal record) times.
“We are hoping to rejuvenate over the holiday break and continue the hard work in the pool,” Bowling-Angle added. “Every swimmer on the team has had at least one PR so far this season.”
Alleghany swam at Lexington on Friday.
The Mountaineer boys beat Parry McCluer (40-2) and lost to Rockbridge County (125-14) and James River (58-27).
The AHS?girls defeated both Parry McCluer (109-10) and James River (91-69) and lost to Rockbridge County (119-46)
