RURAL RETREAT — Covington junior Tristan Hall wrestled to a championship at Rural Retreat Friday night.
Hall who received a bye to the title match, pinned Hunter Cable of Rural Retreat to win the 220 pound weight class at the Class 1, Region C sub-regional.
George Young (145) and Blaine Pettitt (285) both were decisioned in championship bouts.
Covington finished fourth in the six-team field, behind Rural Retreat, George Wythe and Galax.
The Cougars will wrestle next weekend at Castlewood High School in the Class 1 West Super Region Tournament.
The top six wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the state tournament February 15-16 at the Salem Civic Center.
