CASTLEWOOD — The Covington trio of Kent Bullock, Tristan Hall and Hunter Tallman are state tournament bound.
Bullock and Hall won quarterfinal bouts, while Tallman won a pair of wrestleback matches at the Class 1 Super Region wrestling tournament at Castlewood High School.
Hall made short work of Chilhowie’s Glen Body in a 220 pound quarterfinal, pinning him in 10 seconds, while Bullock earned a second-period pin of Grundy’s Casey Lawson in the 160 pound division.
Both Hall and Bullock will wrestle in the semifinal round this morning.
After losing by pinfall in his opener, Tallman rebounded for a pair of first-period pins in the 152 pound weight class.
The Cougar three are all guaranteed top six spots and will advance to the Class 1 State Tournament next weekend at the Salem Civic Center.
Brandon Motter was 2-2 for Covington on Friday, while both George Young and Blaine Pettitt won one match each.
Covington stands ninth in the 15-team field.
Grundy holds the top spot by 10.5 points entering today’s bouts.
Matches began at 9:30 a.m. this morning.
