Dear Editor,
On behalf of the administration, faculty, staff and students at Clifton Middle School, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the community, businesses and parents/guardians of the Alleghany Highlands for all their generosity, enthusiasm and heartfelt support of Clifton Middle School’s Community Night held on Feb. 28.
Our students and staff worked tirelessly to prepare for this event. Those who visited were able to get a glimpse of what goes on in the halls and classrooms at CMS as students showcased their work. Those in attendance enjoyed a performance by the band, the choir, and a sneak peek of the upcoming musical, “Legally Blonde.”
A special thanks to Alcova Mortgage, The Alleghany Foundation, Alleghany High School FCCLA, Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Alleghany Highlands Regional Library, Alleghany Highlands YMCA, Clifton Forge Public Library, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Jackson River Community Credit Union, Jackson River Technical Center, Shenandoah Valley Reading Council, Virginia Cooperative Extension (4-H) and Virginia Employment Commission.
Amber Kerns won the raffle drawing for a stand up cooler made by Jackson River Technical Center’s Carpentry Class taught by Mr. Jimmy Fridley.
Thanks again for making this night a huge success!
Sincerely,
CMS Community Night Committee, Low Moor

Dear Editor,
Just a reminder for all of the upcoming Life Chain near the light at Walmart.
It is Sunday, April 7, from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. on the sidewalks at this light intersection.
Abortion is murder. This has now moved into what some are calling a fourth trimester abortion, advocated by our very own Governor Northam.
He defends leaving a born baby with “problems,” or a baby who has survived an abortion, on a table to be left to die.
This is something one wouldn’t even do to a dog.
Our Senator Tim Kaine has voted against the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,” which would require the attending physician to try to save [treat] the baby who just survived an abortion [a murder attempt]. Mr. Kaine believes, as does Mr. Northam, that the living, breathing baby should just be left alone to die, or maybe simply be thrown into a garbage can?
Preemie wards and Newborn Intensive Care Units [NICUs] are full of “missed opportunities” for these politicians.
If you believe this sort of thing is barbaric and demonic and should be stopped, please come participate in this Life Chain.
Show your support for the wonderful gift of life God gives us in our children:  April 7, 2:30-3:45, Walmart stoplight, holding signs while quietly praying for an end to abortion.
Sincerely,
Maureen Stec
