West-Rock’s Covington mill recently presented a check to the Covington?Police Department for the Shop with a Cop program.
The purpose of the event was to foster positive relationships between area youth and the Covington police officers.
Approximately 10 children in grades kindergarten through six were selected during the holiday season for a shopping trip.
They were given money to purchase gifts for members of their immediate family.
After shopping, the children ate lunch, wrapped their gifts and continued to get to know the police officers.
This program allows children to experience the joy of giving around the holiday season and helps reinforce the idea of putting others above themselves.
