HOT SPRINGS — Balance keyed a Pioneer District boys basketball win for the Bath County Chargers Friday night.
Damian Flenner scored 19 points, Sean Gardener and Patrick Chestnut both had 12 and Cole Plott scored 11, leading the Chargers past Eastern Montgomery, 60-51.
Bath County trailed 25-22 at the half, but used a big 18-8 third-quarter advantage to take the lead.
Flenner had seven of his 19 in the quarter, while Chestnut and Plott had five each.
Garrett East scored 22 points for the Mustangs (0-4 Pioneer, 2-12 overall).
The Chargers, already down one starter for the year in Dylan McComb, will play the next couple of weeks without Sean Flenner, who has a wrist injury.
Bath County’s (2-2 Pioneer, 5-5 overall) scheduled trip to Boys Home today was postponed. They host Narrows on Tuesday.
Eastern Montgomery won a tight 51-47 junior varsity decision Friday night.
Gabe Fox and Hunter Holland both scored 15 for the Mustangs.
Jaden Ryder scored 18 to lead the Chargers and Russell Ingram had 11.
Landon Long with six, Forrest Waldeck with four, Matt Keyser and Brennen Gardzinski with three each and Hunter Harmon with two rounded out the Bath scoring.
