Hilary Foster Kelley, 87, of 310 S. Lexington Ave., died, Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Kelley was born February 15, 1932 in Gretna, VA the son of the late Lula Kelley Mann.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a son Joe Lewis Carter, a daughter Victoria C. Holloway and a brother Morris Kelley.
Hilary worked as a bank custodian for the former First National Bank of Covington, as well as an orderly for the former Alleghany Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the deacon board for the Concerned Christian Church. He was part of the Senior Citizen Organization the LOA. He enjoyed paint by numbers and model cars as well as driving seniors around who needed taken places.
Surviving are his daughter Carmaleta Bowers and husband Frederick for Richmond, two sons Roy Carter and wife Linda of Covington and Reginald Carter and wife Bernadine of Clifton Forge, twelve grandchildren; Kim Jefferson and husband Curtis of Covington, Kahlida Caple of West Hollywood, CA, Jonnell Landsman and husband Nicolas of West Minster, MD, Lyndsay Niles Bell and husband Brian of Washington D.C., Bryant Holloway and wife Lisa of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Carter Wiley and husband Steve of Covington, Tony Carter of Covington, Trina Carter of Clifton Forge, Tonya Walker of Charlottesville, Reginald Carter Jr. of Clifton Forge, Gina Carter and Regina Ray both of Raonoke, __ great grandchildren Justin Jefferson, Logan Jefferson, Knox Landsman, Jasmine Carter, Michelle Carter, Bellamy Landsman, Keenan Smith, Kashaun Carter, Khalil Carter, Ashley Holloway, Jeremy Holloway, Brandon Holloway, Lawrence Walker, Lewis Walker ,Chloe Walker , Drevasie Edwards , Dayja Edwards; five great-great grandchildren, Dakoto Holloway, Brayden Walker, Amari Walker, Isabella Castaneda, and Audrina Castaneda; a special caregiver Ann Matheny, a close friend William Clark, and a neighbor Carol Lemon.
In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday March 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. William O. Hickman officiating.
The family will receive their friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorial donations in Mr. Kelley’s name be made to the LOA Area Agency on Aging at 246 W. Main St. Covington, VA 24426.
