WestRock’s Covington mill has announced the winners of its annual Christmas Card and Christmas Ad contests.
Gary Pillow is the winner of the mill’s Christmas Card competition for 2018.
His watercolor painting depicts the front of the C1/C2 paper machine building during a snowfall with a beautiful Christmas wreath hanging on the front of the building.
Gary’s winning artwork was one of 14 entries in this year’s annual competition, sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center and WestRock.
Gary received a monetary award for winning the contest, and his artwork is featured on the mill’s 2018 Christmas card that has been mailed to all employees and retirees, as well as business and community leaders, throughout the United States and abroad.
The Covington mill has also announced that the artwork by Joel Tucker and David Hayslett will make up this year’s WestRock holiday greetings in the newspaper.
Their artwork was chosen from the entries in this year’s annual Christmas card competition and appears in today’s Letters to Santa supplement to the Virginian Review.
Tucker’s watercolor painting depicts an antique flatbed truck, driven by Santa hauling a Christmas tree and presents.
Hayslett’s acrylic painting depicts a bright sunset looked upon by a snow family.
