Anthony Morgan has announced his resignation as the city of Covington’s police chief.
Citing personal reasons “that are best for my family,” Morgan announced his intention to leave Covington Monday afternoon.
His last day as chief will be February 8.
“I have been impressed and thankful for the outpouring of support for me and my family,” Morgan said. “Also,I have really enjoyed working with the Covington Police Department. The future is very bright.”
Morgan has been offered a position as police chief at a locality in Maryland.
“I wish things could’ve worked for the long-term. The Alleghany Highlands is a special community.”
Morgan has been Covington’s police chief since early 2018, when he came to the area from Michigan.
More details on Morgan’s departure will be made available in Thursday’s edition of The Virginian Review.
