BOIL WATER ADVISORY UPDATE

CITY OF COVINGTON, VIRGINIA
UPDATED: SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 2026

The City of Covington is responding to a water main break, first identified on Thursday, March 26, 2026, which has caused service disruptions and a Boil Water Advisory for affected areas.

⚠️ BOIL WATER ADVISORY – NOT CITYWIDE⚠️

This advisory applies to areas that experienced low or no water pressure, including but not limited to the following locations. Surrounding areas with similar conditions may also be affected.

 South Carpenter Drive
 Parrish Court
 Edgemont Drive
 Jackson Street and adjoining streets
 Nearby side streets and surrounding areas

If affected:

 Boil water for 1 minute before use, or
 Use bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and ice.
Low pressure can allow contaminants into the system.

CURRENT STATUS

 Leak stopped at approximately 10:00 PM on Friday, March 27, 2026.
 Customers who had low water pressure should begin to see improved water flow.
 Repairs are being planned; due to the line’s location near the railroad, coordination is required to access the site.
 CSX has scheduled access for early next week to allow repairs to proceed.

FIRE PROTECTION:

Alleghany County Fire Departments tanker task force remains active to support fire protection
