On Monday, February 1, 2019, Geraldine Overton Hatcher, daughter of the late Ollie and Emma Lewis Overton, passed away peacefully at The Brian Center Health and Rehab in Low Moor, VA.  She was born on November 14, 1927 in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
Mrs. Hatcher accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Main Street Baptist Church at an early age.  For many years, she served as a dedicated usher, deaconess, and member of the Helping Hands Club.  She was also a former member of the Bohemian Club and the Women’s Federated Club.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver C. “Jack” Hatcher on April 2, 2016; an infant brother; and two sisters, Edith Overton Edwards and Ollie Louise Overton Smith.
Mrs. Hatcher worked at the old C & O Hospital and retired from Mizzy, Inc.
She is survived by two sons, Lenford C. Hatcher and his wife Shelagh of Lynchburg, VA and Timothy O. Hatcher of Wadesboro, NC; one daughter, Benay V. Hatcher of Waynesboro, VA; two grandchildren, Wesley Hatcher of Wadesboro, NC and Kenzi Martin of Boston, MA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating.  The Reverend Roslyn C. Thomas will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.  
Her great nephews will serve as pallbearers.  
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 419, Clifton Forge, VA  24422.
