ALLEGHANY HIGHLANDS, Va. (VR) – With Spring just around the corner many of us are thinking about green grass, chirping birds, and blooming flowers. The Alleghany Cruisers however are thinking about beautiful paint jobs, gleaming chrome, and the sounds of powerful engines filling the air. Car event season is about to return to the Alleghany Highlands, and 2026 is promising to be one of the best years for area car enthusiasts yet.

The Alleghany Cruisers are celebrating their fifth year in 2026 and they are looking forward to a great year of cars, friends, and supporting our community.

“The Alleghany Cruisers were founded as a car club for everyone.” : says club President Robert Floyd. “Our goal has always been to host great, family friendly events and to be active in our community, and to have a lot of fun doing it.”

The Alleghany Cruisers will be bringing back the Alleghany Highlands Triple Crown for 2026, these are the clubs three largest events. Each of these events also benefits a very worthy cause.

The 7th Annual Back the Blue Scholarship Car Show will return to the Jackson River Sports Complex in Covington VA on June 27. This event is both a fund raiser for the Back the Blue Scholarship for area high school seniors continuing their education in the criminal justice or related field, and a way to pay tribute to the men and women that work in law enforcement. The Back the Blue weekend also includes the Back the Blue Bash, a free concert
on Saturday evening featuring ROCK BOTTTOM BRIDGE.

“Our club has awarded nine scholarships to area high school seniors since 2022.” says Floyd. “Support for this show has been incredible over the years. We really appreciate everyone getting behind our area students and the hard-working men and women in law enforcement.”

The 3rd Annual Chessie Car Show will be held at the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge VA on July 11. This event combines the deep railroad heritage in our area with the area’s strong car culture. This event is a benefit for the C&O Historical Society.

“The folks at the C&O Historical Society are some wonderful people.” said Floyd. “In addition to preserving the rich history of the C&O Railway these folks host some awesome events throughout the year for the people in Clifton Forge, and the Alleghany Highlands as a whole.”

The 5th Annual Holiday Hot Rod Round Up will be the final leg of the Triple Crown and it will be held at the Jackson River Sports Complex in Covington VA on Saturday October 17.

This Christmas themed show in a benefit for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program which benefits local children during the Christmas season.

“I cannot think of anyone in the car community that doesn’t like supporting our kids.” said Floyd. “This event was created to help the hard-working folks at the Salvation Army ensure that no child is forgotten during the Christmas season.”

The Alleghany Cruisers are working hard to make these three events some of the best ever for 2026. But there is more in store for area car enthusiast this year. Cruisin Covington will once again bring back the nostalgic atmosphere of Friday night cruising. This event returns on April 10. Lastly, the Alleghany Cruisers have numerous cruise in’s scheduled for 2026, many of these will be Friday evening events.

“Cruising and traditional Friday night Cruise In’s are still the core of the car culture ” said Floyd. “These events are all about getting out of the town and enjoying the company of friends and supporting area businesses. I sometimes here folks longing for a return to the by gone days, these events are a chance to relive the fun and freedom of those simpler times.”

The Alleghany Cruisers would like to invite everyone to join us this year as we look forward good times and good friends.
