MILLBORO — The Bath Community Physicians Group has been seeing patients in its new Millboro clinic since October.
A ribbon cutting and open house to mark the reopening of the clinic was hosted by the Bath County Chamber of Commerce Thursday. The clinic is located at 432 Church Street, across from Millboro Elementary School.
Bath Community Hos-pital officials and community leaders joined chamber representatives for the festivities.
The clinic is housed in the former Millboro SEEDS?building. Bath Community Hospital is leasing the property from the county for $1 per year.
“This is a special day for Millboro and a special day for the Bath Community Physicians Group,”?said Bath Community Hospital CEO?Kathy Landreth.
Landreth said the clinic has room for other providers and if it continues to grow, the clinic might be open additional days. Currently, the Millboro clinic’s hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Landreth commended the work of Kari Lightner, the Bath Community Hospital executive director of Ambulatory Services, for her efforts in getting the Millboro clinic up and running.
“Without the hard work of Kari Lightner, it would not have gotten off the ground like it did,”?Landreth added.
“The community has been extremely supportive and the board of supervisors was supportive as well,”?Lightner said. “Our goal was to get back here within a year, and we made that happen, so we’re really excited to be back.”
The Millboro clinic first opened in 1991, but Bath Community Hospital was forced to close the prior location in June 2017. Hospital officials considered several sites in the Millboro area before selecting the Church Street location. The hospital then spent approximately $40,000 for renovations to bring the property up to the rural health clinic designation specifications required by Medicare.
Kim Rexrode, FNP, continues to provide health care services at the Millboro clinic.
“I’m glad to be back,”?Rexrode said. “The first day back, we hit the ground running.”
Eddy Hicklin, the Millboro representative on the Bath County Board of Supervisors, said the clinic’s location near Millboro Elementary School and the Speyside Bourbon Stave Mill is ideal for anyone requiring medical attention.
“It is a valuable asset to the Millboro community,”?Hicklin said. “It is an asset with the school close by as well as its proximity to Speyside.”
The Millboro clinic accommodates 16-18 patients per day, providing primary and preventive health care services as well as comprehensive treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. The clinic is also able to provide the necessary lab draws for its patients at the Millboro location. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (540)?997-1447 or (540)?839-7197.
