CALDWELL W.Va. (VR) – A new business is making its way to Greenbrier County soon.
Bobby Ray has owned Raye’s Auction House and Thrift for the last three years, and he has been operating out of Charleston. He has also owned a video game store called Mario’s Retro Video Game Store for over 15 years and provides online auctions through their Facebook page and in person auctions at their physical location.
Their location in the Greenbrier Valley will be at 37748 Midland Trail, Caldwell, right off the White Sulphur Springs exit, as both places will be combined. The Charleston store will close for good.
Ray moved to the White Sulphur Springs area after meeting his current girlfriend, Dorothy Wallace, and Wallace is going to be an integral part of the business as well.
“After seeing no one in this area had anything like this, he (Bobby) decided to move his auction house and video game store to Greenbrier County,” Wallace said of Ray.
“We both have dedicated a lot of time to not only be part of the community, but to be a service to the community,” she added.
The hope for Ray and Wallace is to slowly but surely build a solid customer base in this area as it took about a year or so to get regulars in the Charleston area.
“We want to thrive here and add new things every week,” Wallace said.
They will have a wide variety of items for sale in their auctions, which take place every other weekend, with the very first one set for Saturday, Feb. 28. The customers are encouraged to view all the items for auction at 5 p.m., and at 6 p.m., the bidding begins. Wallace said they hope to have the store open on Monday, Feb. 23, but that is not set in stone yet, as they are still getting things set up and ready to go.
Items are usually also listed on their Facebook page (search Raye’s Auction House and Thrift Store) for potential customers to get an early look, and can include anything from video games and toys to dish sets and old decor.

Thursday through Sunday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
