FAIRLEA, WV. (VR) – The Alleghany girls track team stacked wins and personal bests across the board, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 4×400 relay and dominant performances in the field events.
The 4×400 team of Jaylin Robinson, Kiera Lowman, Ty’aieja Smith, and Willow Morgan took first in 4:26.15, a personal best, while the 4×100 squad of Cambria Ransom, Smith, Hannah Hipes, and Robinson placed second at 51.92. In distance relays, the 4×800 “A” team of Faith Barron, Morgan, Lowman, and Madilyn Via finished second in 10:38.22 (PB), while the “B” group of Charlotte Taylor, Allie Downs, Meredith Minter, and Avery Spinks placed sixth at 12:20.82 (PB). The 4×200 relay team of Elin Heck, Zamya Hayslett, Catie Lipes, and Brooklyn Connor added an eighth-place finish in 2:05.81 (PB), and the shuttle hurdle relay of Heck, Lipes, Connor, and Taylor Jenkins came in 5th and posted a 1:21.48 (PB).
Individually, Faith Barron led the distance group with a third-place finish in the 800 (2:38.69, PB), while Allie Downs ran 2:54.22 (PB) for 10th. In the sprints, Jaylin Robinson (13.68), Cambria Ransom (13.70), and Hannah Hipes (14.01) finished seventh, eighth, and 10th in the 100, all season bests, with Ransom adding an eighth-place run in the 200 (27.65). Brooklyn Connor placed sixth in the 100 hurdles with a personal best 19.14.
Alleghany controlled the field events, led by Elin Heck’s first-place high jump at 5-0 (PB) and second-place long jump finish at 14-6. Ty’aieja Smith won the long jump at 15-10 and added a third-place high jump (4-8), while Willow Morgan cleared 4-2 (PB) for eighth and jumped 13-5 for 10th in the long jump.
In boys competition, Desmond Jordan set the tone early, winning the 100 meters in a personal-best 11.84 to lead the Alleghany boys track team to a strong, stat-filled showing across multiple events.
Jordan’s win paced a sprint group that saw Daimonie Clayton take fourth in the 100 at 11.92 (PB). The duo also contributed to the 4×100 relay team of Jordan, Sarge Persinger, Jackson Gray, and Christian Wilson, which placed third in 45.98 (PB). In the 4×200, Persinger, Clayton, Austin Greene, and Kenton Kirby added another third-place finish, clocking 1:40.14 (PB).
Alleghany added strong performances in the relays, with the 4×400 team of Levi Bartley, Trevor Jonas, Kenton Kirby, and Cole Bowser finishing seventh in 4:15.53 (PB), while the 4×800 squad of Levi Wilkerson, Nolan Rosales, Braden Lemons, and Ryan Tucker placed ninth in 10:47.26 (PB).
In the field, Clayton placed eighth in the long jump (10-0, PB), while Jayden Richmond followed in ninth at 17-11 (PB).
