Brenda Sue Ruley Mick
Brenda Sue Ruley Mick, age 71, of 11157 Douthat State Park Road, Millboro, Virginia died on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at her residence.
Brenda was born on April 23, 1954 in Lexington, Virginia to the late Kenneth Wiseman Ruley and Elsie Irene Potter Ruley. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for Alleghany Highlands Community Services, and also worked in group homes with the mentally challenged. She cooked for the Douthat State Park Restaurant, enjoyed being a homemaker, and loved fishing.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Whitman “Charlie” Mick of Millboro; her daughter, Sandra Jean Benway and husband Michael Wayne Benway of Covington; her son, Christopher Wade Riley; three sisters, Nancy Byers of Buena Vista, Doris Higgins of Lexington, and Edith Herman of Maryland; a brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Ruley of Lexington; three grandchildren, Courtney Hise, Kristen Hise, and Christopher Riley, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Jamez Hise and Jazelyn Wells; and her special friends, Ann Adams, Ethel Adams, Rachel Pugh, Maggie Adams, Pery Mick, Johnny Shaffer, Paul Adams, Jason Adams, Peter Adams, Janet Kern, Cheyenne Curtis, Draven Kern, and niece, Kelly Hyler.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Vincent Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath County. Pallbearers will be Michael Benway, Peter Adams, Jason Adams, Paul Adams, Johnny Shaffer, and Alan Bowyer. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
