Covington City Public Schools has announced that Edgemont Primary School will hold kindergarten orientation for the 2019-2020 school year on Tuesday, March 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the school, located at 547 West Indian Valley Road, Covington.
Students eligible to enter kindergarten must be five years of age on or before Sept. 30.
“Kindergarten is the first step in your child’s school experience,”?said Edgemont Principal Cindy Morgan. “Kindergarten orientation is an opportunity for children to become acquainted with kindergarten classrooms and teachers.
“It is also a time for parents to recieve information about Edgemont Primary School and the kindergarten program,”?Morgan added.
Kindergarten orientation is designed to help parents enroll their children, including the completion of health forms and to assist students in becoming acquainted with future friends and the school environment.
Parents and students will meet the school principal, kindergarten teachers, be provided bus safety tips and a ride on the school bus.
Students will also participate in various learning stations — gross motor, fine motor, reading and math stations.
Dinner will be provided during orientation.
Kindergarten orientation is an excellent way to build an important partnership between home and school,”?Morgan said.

Students eligible to enter pre-kindergarten must be four years of age on or before Sept. 30.
During pre-kindergarten orientation, parents and students will meet the school principal, pre-kindergarten teachers, be provided bus safety tips, ride a school bus and participate in learning stations.
Parents and students will hear about the pre-kindergarten program and its requirements.
Dinner will be provided during orientation.
