LEXINGTON — Rockbridge Regional Library, in partnership with Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS) and Dementia Friendly Lexington, will host upcoming programs for people living with memory loss and other symptoms of dementia, beginning on Tuesday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. in the Piovano Room.
People with dementia and their care partners, including spouses, adult children, friends, paid caregivers and visitors interested in learning about Memory Café, are invited.
Activities are designed to engage participants and to foster new friendships in a safe, supportive, stigma-free environment.
The April 9 program will feature a performance by local barbershop quartet, The Elderlies. Members Tim Root, lead, Francis Lynn, baritone, Tom Vinson, bass, and Jean Eisenhauer, tenor, have been performing four-part harmony together, without musical instruments for about 14 years.
Subsequent programs will be offered on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Activities will include music, games, short field trips, crafts and more.
The Lexington Branch of the Rockbridge Regional Library System is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
