COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Alleghany broke the game open in the third quarter and pulled away from visiting Buffalo Gap for a Shenandoah District home win. Bubby Entsminger sparked the run with 10 straight points to start the second half as the Cougars outscored the Bison 18-4 in the third quarter. Alleghany carried the momentum the rest of the way.

Entsminger finished with a game-high 14 points, Des Jordan added 11, Jalen Raether scored eight, and seven Cougars recorded assists, led by Entsminger and Kevin Worley with two each. Talyn Elliott pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, while Trevor Jonas grabbed five.

Alleghany’s jayvees improved to 12-3 in the district and 15-6 overall with a 64-23 win in the opener. All 13 Cougars scored, led by Gabe Salamanca with nine points, Buddy Leisure-White with seven, and Talin Raether and Dalton Putman with six each.
