BUFFALO GAP, Va. (VR) – The Cougars limited Buffalo Gap to five made field goals — and just one in the second half — in a 48-22 Shenandoah District win. Alleghany led 26-15 at halftime and pulled away after the break, outscoring the Bison 22-7 over the final two quarters.
It marked the first on-court victory of the season for the Cougars, their other win came by forfeit against Brookville at a James River tournament in December. Taylor Stayton scored 14 points to lead Alleghany, while Ty’Aieja Smith added 12.
In the jayvee contest, Alleghany closed its season with a 42-21 loss. Remmy Anderson scored eight for the Cougars and Maddie Harmon added six.
