FORT DEFIANCE, Va. (VR) – Alleghany stayed within striking distance through three quarters before falling 59-44 to Fort Defiance in a Shenandoah District road loss on Monday night. The Cougars trailed 33-24 at halftime but cut the margin to 42-39 entering the fourth quarter. Fort Defiance pulled away late to secure the win.

Jalen Raether led Alleghany with 10 points. Des Jordan and Kenton Kirby each finished with nine, while Bubby Entsminger and Talyn Elliott added seven apiece.

Alleghany’s junior varsity picked up a 61-36 win in the opener, pulling away in the second half. Buddy Leisure-White scored 12 points, all in the third quarter, Gabe Salamanca added nine, and Jayden Richmond finished with eight for the Cougars.
