RINER — For the second straight season, the Auburn Eagles ended the season for the Covington soccer team.
Gage Phillips and Triston Perry both had two goals, leading the Eagles past the Cougars, 6-0, in a Region C first round match.
Josh Monday and Jackson Brockman added one score each for the winners.
Jadyn Davis stopped 37 shots in goal for Covington.
The Cougars ended the season with a record of 3-11, while Auburn advances to a semifinal match Wednesday at Bath County.
The match was the last for CHS coach Heather Baker. Baker started the Cougar program as a club team and has played as a school-sponsored team for the last three seasons.
Former Alleghany standout Laura Farrar has been named the next Covington head coach.
