Former State Trooper Is Arrested On Child Pornography Charge

A former Virginia state trooper has been arrested for felony possession of child pornography.
Justin Brant Hipps, 35, of Covington, was arrested Friday on one count of possession of child pornography.
State police spokesman Rick Garletts said Hipps is no longer employed by the Department of State Police. He was terminated the day he was arrested. 
Hipps was hired in February 2007 and he was assigned as a trooper in the Area 38 Salem Division.
A bond hearing has been set for Tuesday in Alleghany County General District Court. 
Hipps is currently being held at the Alleghany Regional Jail in Covington until Tuesday’s hearing.
