The Floyd County boys tennis team remained unbeaten at Clifton Middle School Tuesday.
The Buffaloes (5-0 Three Rivers District, 11-0 overall) won four of six singles matches and added two doubles wins for a 6-3 victory over Alleghany.
“Floyd is a very experienced and consistent team,” said AHS coach Seth Davis. “Overall, I thought we played well. We don’t have the experience most other teams have and the TRD is very tough this year.”
Dominic Trice remained unbeaten at No. 1 singles with tiebreak win over Floyd’s Travis Battle.
Tanner Arritt added a win at No. 5 singles, while Trice teamed with Chris Tingler for a win at No. 1 doubles for Alleghany.
“We were down 0-4 in the team match and never backed down,” Davis added. “Dominic played tremendously, Stone (Russell) fought back from 1-7 and Tanner’s hard work is paying off. Dom and Chris (Tingler) probably played their best doubles match so far and Logan (Robertson) competed hard.”
Alleghany (2-2 TRD, 6-3 overall) hosts Radford today.
