SPRINGWOOD — Dyllan McAllister fired a one-hit, complete-game gem here Thursday.
McAllister, a James River junior, struck out 14 and walked just one in a 10-0 six-inning win over Alleghany in the Three Rivers District baseball opener for both teams.
Zac Wolfe’s leadoff single in the top of the fifth was the lone hit for the Mountaineers.
Jake Braun had two hits and drove in two runs to lead James River’s 12-hit offensive outburst.
Gabe Sebastino, Andrew Bridges and Ryan Pugh also had two hits and Nathan Farris drove in a pair of runs for the Knights (1-0 TRD, 1-4 overall).
Colby Skidmore started and pitched five innings for Alleghany, allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
Noah Smith and Tanner Skidmore both pitched in relief.
The Mountaineers (0-1 TRD, 1-4 overall) play three times next week. They go to Rockbridge County on Monday, host Radford on Tuesday and entertain Riverheads on Thursday.
