Pioneer District Postseason Events Begins This Week

The Pioneer District is nearly set for the spring sports postseason.
Beginning Wednesday with the district track meet at Covington High School’s Burton Field, the Pioneer begins a week and a half of tournament action.
Here’s a look at the district postseason schedule:
Baseball
• Friday: Quarterfinals at higher seeds – No. 6 at No. 3; No. 5 at No. 4.

• Monday, May 20: Semifinals at higher seeds – No. 1 and No. 2 seeds host games.

• Wednesday, May 22: Consolation game at higher seed between semifinal losers. Championship game at Casey Field between semifinal winners at 6 p.m.
Softball
• Friday: Quarterfinals at higher seeds – No. 6 at No. 3; No. 5 at No. 4.

• Monday, May 20: Semifinals at higher seeds – No. 1 and No. 2 seeds host games.

• Wednesday, May 22: Consolation game at higher seed between semifinal losers. Championship game at Jackson River Sport Complex between semifinal winners at 6 p.m.
Boys Soccer
• Tuesday, May 21: Quarterfinal at higher seeds – No. 5 at No. 4.

• Wednesday, May 22: Semifinals at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista. First match begins at 5:30 p.m.

• Friday, May 24: Consolation and Championship matches at Southern Virginia University. Consolation match at 5:30 p.m., with championship to follow 20 minutes later.
Girls Soccer
• Monday, May 20: Semifinal at higher seed – No. 3 at No. 2.

• Wednesday, May 22: Championship match at No. 1 seed.
Girls Tennis
No team tennis tournament will be held. Parry McCluer is declared the district champion after winning the regular season.

• Thursday: Individual singles tournament beginning at 4:30 p.m., at Southern Virginia University.

• Friday: Individual doubles tournament beginning at 4:30 p.m., at Southern Virginia University.

Track
Covington High School will host the district track championships on Wednesday at Burton Field. 
Field events begin at 2 p.m.
