Mountaineers Split Matches With Floyd County

FLOYD — The Alleghany Mountaineers jumped to a 5-1 lead after the singles matches Wednesday en route to a 6-3 win over Floyd County in girls tennis.
Tori Meeks, Kaylie Hampton, Nicole Gray, Vanna Hoke and Aysa Massie were all victorious in singles matches, giving the Mountaineers a big lead.
Floyd County turned the tables on the Mountaineers Thursday with a 5-4 win.
The match was tied at 3-3 after the singles matches before Floyd County won two of the three doubles match-ups.
The Mountaineers finished a 7-8 regular season campaign, 4-6 in Three Rivers District play.
They now advance to a regional match-up against Abingdon Monday. First serve is 1:30 p.m. at Emory & Henry.
