CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) — CFRE International is proud to announce that Dr. John Rainone, President of Mountain Gateway Community College, has successfully recertified as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE). Dr. Rainone is one of more than 8,200 fundraising professionals worldwide who hold the prestigious CFRE designation, which he has maintained since 2007.

Individuals who earn the CFRE credential have met rigorous standards set by CFRE International, including tenure in the profession, demonstrated fundraising achievements, and completion of a comprehensive exam testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of an accomplished fundraising executive. CFRE certificants also commit to upholding the Accountability Standards and Donor Bill of Rights, ensuring the highest level of ethical practice in philanthropy.

“The CFRE credential was created to identify for the public and employers those individuals who possess the knowledge, skills, and commitment to perform fundraising duties in an effective and ethical manner,” said Eva E. Aldrich, Ph.D., CAE, CFRE (2001–2016), President and CEO of CFRE International. “As certification is a voluntary achievement, the CFRE designation demonstrates Dr. Rainone’s exceptional commitment to the fundraising profession and the donors he serves.”

CFRE certification is awarded for a three-year period. To maintain certification status, recipients must demonstrate ongoing professional practice, continued fundraising results, and commitment to lifelong learning. Employers and donors who work with CFREs can be confident they are engaging professionals with proven expertise and integrity.

“I’m deeply honored to maintain this certification and to stand among a community of professionals dedicated to ethical, donor-centered fundraising,” said Dr. Rainone. “Philanthropy has the power to transform lives, and at Mountain Gateway Community College, we see that every day—students gaining skills, families finding hope, and communities growing stronger.

This recertification reflects not just my personal commitment to the highest standards in fundraising, but also the extraordinary work of our faculty and staff who live out our mission of service and opportunity.”

Since its establishment in 1981, CFRE International has set the global standard for fundraising certification. The CFRE credential—accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB)—is the only internationally recognized certification for fundraising professionals, signifying professionalism, confidence, and ethics in service to others.

The CFRE designation is endorsed and supported by the world’s leading professional and philanthropic associations.

CFRE International congratulates Dr. John Rainone for his continued leadership, professionalism, and dedication to advancing philanthropy.
