COVINGTON, Va. (VR) - The Covington Lumberjacks will welcome Special Olympics athletes to Casey Field on Sunday, June 14, for a memorable evening of baseball and community spirit.
The festivities begin at 4 p.m. as Special Olympics participants take part in several pregame activities. Athletes will sing the National Anthem, join Lumberjacks players on the field during introductions, and have the opportunity to throw a ceremonial first pitch.
The event is designed to celebrate inclusion and provide a special experience for participating athletes while bringing the community together through baseball. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and help recognize the Special Olympics athletes as they take center stage alongside the Lumberjacks.

Special Olympics Night With The Jacks

The Covington Lumberjacks Bark in the Park night has been rescheduled for June 16 at 6:30 p.m. after the original game was cancelled due to weather. Fans are encouraged to bring donations of dog and cat food for the Alleghany Humane Society, which will also be on hand with adoptable pets. Guests are welcome to bring their four-legged friends as long as they are on a leash.

CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – Every October, the Alleghany Highlands come alive with vibrant color, crisp mountain air, and the unmistakable buzz of celebration as the Clifton Forge Fall Foliage Festival makes its return. Proudly sponsored by the Clifton Forge Shrine Club, this cherished annual event will once again welcome visitors from near and far to downtown Clifton Forge, Virginia on October 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2025.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Virginia’s western mountains, the festival offers a perfect opportunity to experience the full glory of autumn while enjoying the charm and hospitality of one of the region’s most welcoming communities.

A Celebration of Color, Craft, and Community

The Fall Foliage Festival is renowned for its wide range of crafts, food, music, and community spirit. Streets will be lined with vendors offering handmade jewelry, wooden toys, quilts, Christmas ornaments, leather goods, wood carvings, and more. The flea market, always a crowd favorite, stretches along the main streets and boasts an eclectic mix of antiques and collectibles including glassware, vintage books, silverware, china, pottery, and furniture.

Festivalgoers can also enjoy a rich variety of homemade refreshments prepared by local civic groups and organizations. Indulge in treats like fresh doughnuts, roast beef and country ham sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, and baked goods, all made fresh and served with a smile.

Nonstop Music & Special Events

Live music fills the air throughout the weekend, offering something for every musical taste—from gospel, country, and bluegrass to classic rock and student performances by local schools.

The festival officially kicks off on Friday, October 17th at noon with a Grand Opening ceremony at the Masonic Amphitheater, marking the start of a weekend filled with fun, flavor, and foliage.

Don’t miss the FREE Gospel Sing on Saturday evening, October 18th at 7:00 p.m., hosted at the historic Clifton Forge Masonic Theater—a beautiful venue rich with local history and character.

Festival Hours:

  • Friday, October 17: 12 PM – 6 PM

  • Saturday, October 18: 9 AM – 6 PM

  • Sunday, October 19: 11 AM – 5 PM

Whether you’re shopping for unique handcrafted gifts, sampling delicious local fare, or simply soaking in the views of the majestic Alleghany Highlands, the 2025 Clifton Forge Fall Foliage Festival promises to be a weekend to remember.
