WestRock’s Alleghany Highlands operations has announced position changes that were announced internally in January.
Geoffrey Fravor has accepted the position of early career development (ECD) associate in the ECD program. He will rotate through three eight-month assignments in three different WestRock locations.
Fravor begins his experience in Covington and is currently responsible for daily operations pertaining to the rebuild of No.1 Paper Machine.
Fravor received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina in December 2018. He held the role of an engineering intern for Domtar Papermill from 2016 to 2017. In 2018, he joined WestRock as an engineering intern in Florence, S.C.
Matt Jones has accepted the position of process engineer in the Technical department.
In this position, he will be assigned to the No.1 Paper Machine Unleash Rebuild team where he will work with startup and commissioning leads related to rebuild preparation and execution.
Jones received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 2018. During the summer of 2018, he served as a process engineer co-op for WestRock in the Electrical and Instrumentation department.
Kyle Schaner has accepted the position of process engineer in the Technical department.
In this position, he will be assigned to the No.1 Paper Machine Rebuild team where he will work with startup and commissioning leads related to rebuild preparation and execution.
Schaner received his B.S. in Paper Engineering from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Before joining the Covington mill, he served as a product development intern for Buckman Laboratories from 2017 to 2018.
Tyler Totten has accepted the position of process engineer in the Fiberline.
In this position, he is responsible for day-to-day operation in the Bleach Room and the Waste Treatment Plant.
Totten graduated from Fairmont State University, in 2018, with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. In May, 2017 he joined the Covington mill as a process engineer co-op.
Totten joined MEC construction, in April, 2018 as an AutoCAD technician and then accepted a position, in August, 2018 with Mersen USA in Salem as a mechanical design engineer.
James “Jim” Czenczek has accepted the position of No.1 Paper Machine rebuild startup coordinator.
In this position, he will serve as the operations subject matter expert (SME) for the new unit operation on No.1 Paper Machine. He will manage the training, procedure development, commissioning and startup for No.1 Paper Machine, and is responsible for meeting the expected project metrics.
Czenczek received his B.S. in Paper Science from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 1994. Prior to joining WestRock, he held numerous positions at the Biron mill in Biron, Wis. from 1994 to 2018.
Most recently, he served as the B26 Paper Machine line business unit leader, at the Biron mill, from 2016 to 2018.
Pamela Madison has accepted the position of woodbuyer for the Wood-yard in the Fiberline department.
In this position, she is responsible for purchasing pulpwood and chips from wood vendors and weighing out chemicals. As a woodbuyer, she also has the duty to maintain the scales as a secured gate at all times and to enforce PPE.
Madison is a graduate of Alleghany High School and received her Geriatric Nursing certificate from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. Prior to WestRock, she was employed with Alleghany Highlands Health Agency and worked independently with hospice patients.
In addition to her health services, Madison worked for Grand Home Furnishings from 2007 to 2013 and has managed her own cleaning business for the last six years.
Chris Wood has accepted the position of paper mill manager.
In this position, he will be responsible for capital planning and the safety, quality, and daily operations of No.1 Paper Machine, No. 2 Paper Machine, No. 8 Paper Machine, Stock and Additives, and the Finishing department.
Wood received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University in 1989. He joined Appleton Coated in Newton Falls, N.Y in July, 1989 and held various positions of increasing responsibility ending with papermill superintendent.
Wood served as the manufacturing manager at Bowater Nuway in Covington, Tenn. from 2001 to 2003.
From 2003 to 2006, Wood was the production/technical manager for Sprague paperboard in Versailles, Conn. He began his career with WestRock in 2013 as the mill manager at the St. Paul mill in Saint Paul, Minn.
Gregory Horton has accepted the position of operations supervisor on No.1 Paper Machine.
In this position, he will be responsible for the overall coordination of machine operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity for our employees and customers.
Horton, a graduate of Alleghany High School, joined the mill in 1987 and held various positions of increasing responsibility ending as first assistant on No.1 Paper Machine. In 2017, he took on the position as No.1 Paper Machine team leader and No.1 Paper Machine shift leader for WestRock’s Covington mill.
