Alleghany avenged an early season loss Wednesday at Mountaineer Field.
Regan Meadows had a goal and an assist, while keeper Emma Williams posted her third shutout of the year as the Mountaineers downed William Fleming, 2-0.
Williams stopped 16 Colonel shots, including a save on a Zuriely Marquez second half penalty kick.
“Emma was key,” said AHS coach Bob Donnan. “She had some big saves for us and she stopped a penalty kick for us which is really hard to do.”
Donnan also cited the defensive work of Annie Fu and Briana Ryder in the middle and Hope Arthur’s play on the side.
“Tonight we were a better passing team,” Donnan said. “At times this year we have just cleared the ball which is OK on defense. But the defense was even making passes to people which is ideally what you want to do.”
Ryder assisted on Meadows’ goal in the 28th minute.
The second Mountaineer goal came in the 47th minute on a perfect cross from Meadows to Erin May.
Alleghany’s JV’s won back-to back games.
The Mounties topped Nelson County 3-2 on Tuesday before a 4-0 win over WF Wednesday.
Madeline Lane scored twice in Tuesday’s win, while Lucy Nicely added a goal.
Wednesday’s win saw Ashtyn Bishop score a goal and add two assists.
Nicely, Lane and Lexie Stewart also had goals, while Kylee Morris had an assist.
