ROANOKE — Patrick Henry belted three homers, including back-to-back jacks in an eight-run third inning Friday in a 12-1 non-district baseball win over Covington.
The Patriots scored four times in the second inning before sending 13 hitters to the plate in the third.
Crawford Higgins hit a two-run homer in the second and Carter Plunkett and John Stockstill started the third with solo shots.
Plunkett ended the night 3-for-3 to lead Patrick?Henry.
Ford Beasley pitched the complete-game victory, allowing just five hits, striking out six and giving up one unearned run.
The Cougars scored in the top of the second when Simon Gibson reached on an error and runner Hunter Smith scored on a Garrett Morgan sacrifice fly.
Isaac Craft went 2-for-2 for the Cougars, while Jaun Miller, Skyler Barnett and Alex Looney all had one hit each.
Dallan Givens took the loss on the mound. Barnett and Morgan both worked in relief.
Covington (2-1 Pioneer District, 5-4 overall) returns to league play on Monday at Eastern Montgomery.
