Helen Arlene McCoy Goff, 93, of Beverly Ave, Covington, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 9, 2020 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor. She was born on November 26, 1926 in Glen Wilton, Virginia a daughter of the late Georgie Broughman and Ernest Jackson McCoy. She was a graduate of the former C&O Hospital School of Nursing, a homemaker throughout her life and a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Covington. Mrs. Goff was a woman of strong Christian Faith and a well-respected member of her community. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Floyd Houston Goff in January of 2015, two grandsons, Ernest James Sharp, Justin Timothy Goff; a brother, James Ernest McCoy, and a sister, Beulah McCoy Simmons. She is survived by a daughter, Anita Goff Sharp and William, of Sweet Springs, WVA; three sons, Stephen Goff and wife Norma, of Clifton Forge, Timothy Goff and wife Betty Jo, of Haymarket, David Goff and wife Donna, of Covington; four granddaughters, Jacqueline Sharp Whitehead and husband Gary, Kristin Goff St. Clair and husband Mathieu, Bridgett Goff, Sara Goff and companion Jeramie Jefferies; two great-granddaughters, Courtney Whitehead Dillman and husband Bradford, and Autumn Grace McCoy; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday February 12, 2020 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with Pastor Dean Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Glen Wilton. Active pallbearers will be Andy Cash, Larry Terry, Gary Whitehead, and Bradford Dillman.Her family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Wednesday at Nicely Funeral Home and at other times at her residence 1004 N. Beverly Ave. in Covington. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 529, Covington, Virginia 24426.
