CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Cruisers and the Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society hosted the 2nd Annual Chessie Car Show in Clifton Forge VA and this year’s event was every bit as amazing as it was last year, if anything, it was better.
It was a beautiful day at the C&O Railway Heritage Center, it was warm, but it remained dry. Overall, 52 vehicles were onsite for this years show and the public attendance was very good. While this may not be the largest car show in the area, it is definitely the one with the most unique atmosphere. And today the atmosphere was warm and friendly. There were smiles everywhere as the entrants and guests enjoyed their day.
The C&O Heritage Center is an amazing place; there is so much rich and colorful history on display here. When you combine this with a great car show hosted by a group of friendly, community oriented, folks, something magical happens.
There are so many people to thank. First of all, a big shout out to all of the area businesses that donated items to the raffle or as door prizes, without your support an event like this could never happen. Our very own D.J. Eugene “The Lone Wolf” Windsor did his usual superb job spinning the tunes and making announcements, we just cannot imagine a car event in our area without his presence.
The Clifton Forge Little League and the folks with the Italian Ice trailer did a great job providing food service. And the Salvation Army did an awesome job with their activities for the kids and the bake sale.
We also want to thank A1 Studios for providing yet another great dance performance. It is always a pleasure having y’all as a part of our events.
All of the folks at the C&OHS did an amazing job but I want to especially recognize Anita Burr Bird and Wendy Montgomery, these ladies go above and beyond and put many hours into this event, and all events hosted at the Heritage Center. I am also happy to announce that these ladies are also now members of our club.
It goes without saying that we want to thank all of our entrants, there were many car shows today and you chose to spend your day with us, we cannot tell you how much you are appreciated. We also want to thank the Highland Recorder, the Alleghany Journal, the Virginian Review, and WDBJ 7 for your superb media coverage of this event.
Lastly, we want to thank every resident of our area and from abroad that came out today to support this great event. We cannot thank you enough. It was a really good day at the Heritage Center today, and a good day for our community.
We are looking forward to the 3rd Annual Chessie Car Show coming up on July 11, 2025. And there is more to come from the C&O Heritage Center, stay tuned.
