The Covington City School Board will convene for its January meeting Monday night at 6:30 p.m. in the School Board Offices located at 340 E. Walnut Street.
The following items are on the agenda for Monday’s meeting:
— Recognitions/Delegations: VFW Patriot Pen Contest winners, Covington High School fall athlete recognition’s, “God’s Covering Snack Pack Program,”recognition, “Shop with a Cop” program recognition;
— Finance: Invoices, financial statements, budget analysis, projected budget changes (anticipated revenue changes, anticipated expenditure changes, budget transfers”, 2019-2020 budget, 2020-2021 budget hearing;
— Update on school board goals/strategic plan;
— Old Business;
— New Business: Covington High School — All-District Choir overnight trip to George Washington High School, Danville, (Feb. 7 and Feb. 8); 2020-2021 Covington City Public Schools proposed calendar;
— Discussion/Other New Business — School Board members;
— Committee & Joint Board Reports (news article);
— Superintendent’s Reports: Attendance, Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week 2020 (January), National School Counseling Week 2020 (Feb. 3-7), School Board Appreciation Month (February), Professional Development (Jan. 2-3), Family Engagement, Diversity/Equity/Inclusive Practices: Simple K-12 & Future Events, Board Docs presentation;
— Public comment.
Following the adjournment of the meeting, the Covington City School Board will meet in closed session to discuss personnel matters under the Code of Virginia, 2.2-3711 (A)(1).
