COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Investigators with the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, acting on credible information provided by a confidential informant, executed multiple search warrants on Monday, July 7, 2025. The warrants were served at locations on Pocahontas Avenue in the City of Covington and Brookhaven Drive in Alleghany County.

The purpose of the searches was to locate human remains or uncover evidence that may lead to the discovery of such remains. This operation is part of an ongoing investigation.

Assisting with the searches were personnel equipped with ground-penetrating radar and cadaver detection dogs.

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office was further supported by the City of Covington Division of Police, the Virginia Division of Wildlife Resources, and special agents from the Virginia State Police.

At this time, no further information will be released to protect the integrity of the investigation. Updates will be provided as they become available.
