Barbara JoAnn Brown Heighter
Barbara JoAnn Brown Heighter, age 87, of 636 Spring Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the home of her niece in Covington.
Barbara was born on December 15, 1937, in Clifton Forge to the late Robert William and Lila Peters Brown. She was a lifetime member of Main Street Baptist Church and retired from Mackie, which operated the restaurant of the former Hercules, Inc. in Covington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Allen Heighter in May of 2025 and a sister, Dreama Mae “MeMe” Brown Godfrey.
Barbara is survived by a special niece who was like a daughter, Natasha Jackson and husband, Bishop of Covington; a special nephew, Tim “Jiggs” Cooper of Miami, FL; a sister, Arlene Cooper of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Robert “Jimmy” Brown, Jr. and Earl Christian, both of Clifton Forge; three great nieces, Averiana Stewart, Zoe Berryman both of Covington and McKenzie Cooper of Orange Park, FL; a great great niece, Iyla Berryman; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Pamela Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends that Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
