The Alleghany County School Board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Alleghany High School.
Under commendations and awards, the board will present Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Awards to  Melissa Church, teacher assistant-Turning Point; Amanda Grimm, family and consumer science teacher; Cynthia Maccentelli, math teacher; Katie Spinks, English teacher; Heather Terrell, social studies and leadership; Rose West, lead teacher-Turning Point.
The board will present commendations to:
— Members of the AHS swim team: David Donnan, sixth in the state 100 fly; Alivia Hoover,  seventh in the state 200 free style; Abby Martin, fifth place in 50 free style; Abby Martin, seventh in 100 free style; Alivia Hoover, Abby Martin, Charlotte Smith, Kiersten Smith, second in state girls 200 free-relay.
— Members of the AHS wrestling team: Victor Goldberg, second in the state; Travis Fridley, fifth in the state.
— AHS indoor track: Levi Counts, sixth place in the one-mile run.
— Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Educator of the Year finalists: Mallory Nicely, AHS; Heather Eggleston, Clifton Middle School; Jessi Turner, Callaghan Elementary School; Marlene Chapman, Mountain View Elementary; Lia Fisher-Janosz, Sharon Elementary.
Under budget and finance, the board will approve 2020-2021 operating budget and a contract for health insurance services.
Superintendent’s reports and recommendations will include: 
— Calendar information.
— An update from the joint school services committee.
— A resolution for the Virginia School Board Associations’ Business Honor Roll.
— A New Tech update.
— A quarterly update from a work-based learning coordinator.
— Approval of a bid for AHS wight room and training room renovations.
— Approval of a special education annual plan.
— Approval of a summer school staffing plan.
— Grading scale/standards revisions.
— English Language Arts textbook adoptions.
— Information on a local plan for career and technical education.
— An update on the One-to-One Initiative.
— Approval of Chromebook purchases.
— A firewall purchase.
There will be a closed session to discuss personnel matters, student matters and school safety reports.
