HOT SPRINGS — Both the Bath County boys and girls basketball programs will get plenty of court time over the next two weeks.
They started the stretch with wins Monday night.
The Charger boys began the evening with a 51-40 win over visiting Highland County, while the girls dominated from start to finish in a 51-14 victory over the Rams.
Sean Flenner had 25 points to lead the BCHS boys, while Jayden Ryder and Logan Miller both had nine rebounds.
“It was a good district win,” said Charger coach Justin Whittington. “We were rusty. It will be nice to get a practice in tomorrow.”
The Bath County girls got a big 15 point, seven rebound effort from Hannah Pritt and 13 points from Gabrie Herscher in the nightcap victory.
Selena Wolfe grabbed a team-high nine boards.
“We got contributions from just about everybody tonight,” said BCHS girls coach Adam Frye. “This is a big week. We have a good chance to get some wins this week. We got the first one.”
For the Charger girls, now 3-5 in the Pioneer and 3-13 overall, it was the first of a four game in four night stretch.
Bath travels to Craig County tonight, to Riverheads Wednesday and to Covington Thursday.
The Bath County boys (4-3 Pioneer, 5-10 overall) were playing the first of eight games in a 12-day span.
