COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Arts Council received a double surprise Saturday as it celebrated the 30th anniversary of Missoula Children’s Theatre residencies in our area.
The organization started the beloved tradition with the show Alice in Wonderland in February 1995. That first MCT tour team featured, Greg Boris as the White Rabbit. Since that time, Boris has risen to the position if Musical Director at MCT corporate.
This weekend, Boris traveled from Montana to Covington to help mark the 30-year milestone.
During one of Saturday’s performances of that same show title, he surprised Arts Council Executive Director Tammy Scruggs-Duncan with a plaque identical to one that will go on a Wall of Fame at the corporate office in Missoula citing the Arts Council as “a star in the MCT Galaxy” for 30 years of having an impact in our community.
“I was still absorbing the surprise of him driving from Montana to be with us, when he whipped out the award as one of their top clients. I was a very rewarding day for us, all around.”
MCT residencies are supported with assistance from the Alleghany Foundation and the Frances P Rupert Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year’s anniversary celebration has additional support from Mountain River Realty, BA Rupert Real Estate and Whitetail Properties.
