A computer class, “Using Google Docs,” will be offered at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library on Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m. in the Computer Learning Lab.
This digital literacy class will be taught by Adrienne Young.
She will instruct participants on the basics of the free word-processing program that is part of the Google Apps suite.
Young will focus on account creation, using templates, and customizing documents. Participants must have an active Google account.
Google Docs is a free web-based application that allows users to create word-processing documents online, edit them in real time, collaborate with other people, and store all files on the Google Drive.
Because the files are stored online, they may be accessed anywhere via the Internet through the user’s Google account.
Files are also automatically saved to the account, saving users the frustration of losing materials that haven’t been saved or backed up.
The class is open to teens and adults at no cost for participants. However, registration is required, and class size is limited.
Persons wishing to participate may stop by the circulation desk or telephone the staff at 962-3321. The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library is located at 406 W. Riverside St.
Other activities and programs may be accessed on the library website at www.ahrlib.org or by visiting Facebook or Instagram pages.
