ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (VR) – On Saturday, June 14th, the Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K will take place on the Jackson River Scenic Trail in Alleghany County. The trail will be occupied by approximately 500 participants, many of which are traveling to the Alleghany Highlands from all over the country.

Please use caution when driving on sections of the road that the trail crosses. These areas are at the Intervale Trailhead, Petticoat Junction and the straightaway on Route 687 near Falling Spring Gardens.

We encourage the community to come out and cheer the runners on; there will be 3 food trucks, fleet feet will be on site doing foot measurements and selling products, Alleghany Outdoors is doing float trips, and the Alleghany Highlands Trails Alliance will be selling beverages as a fundraiser for the club.

However, please be aware that the trail will be extremely congested during the race and parking will be limited. The race begins at 7:00am and should conclude no later than 3:00pm.
