Don’t look now, but the Alleghany Highlands holiday parade season is just around the corner.
The 2019 parade schedule begins on Friday, Dec. 6, in Clifton Forge and continues through Sunday, Dec. 22, with the Millboro parade.

Clifton Forge 
The Clifton Forge Christmas parade, sponsored by Clifton Forge Main Street, Inc., will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, near the corner of East Ridgeway Street and Roxbury Street in Clifton Forge.
This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland.” 
Participants should arrive by 5:15 p.m. Vehicles without floats should line up on the south side of  Ridgeway Street west of Roxbury Street. Floats should assemble along Keswick Street (behind Northwest Ace Hardware). 
Marching units and animals units should assemble in the Rose Street parking lot. A parade monitor will provide entrants with an order of go and direct entrants when to proceed in the parade. 
The parade will end and disband at the intersection of Main Street and D Street.
For safety reasons, organizers request that you do not throw candy to spectators. Please arrange to hand it out.
Large trophies will be awarded for various categories this year.
“We look forward to seeing you at the parade and thank you for celebrating with the people of Clifton Forge and the surrounding area,”?said Lisa Jonas, an official with Clifton Forge Main Street.
Covington
Olde Town Covington will present the 2019 Covington Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 5 p.m.
This year’s theme is “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Lineup begins at 4 p.m. on the parking lot at WestRock.
Entries will be divided into several categories, including Religious Float, Novelty Float, Marching Unit, Equestrian Unit and other.
Organizers request no Santas or Mrs. Santas on participating floats.

Iron Gate
The 18th annual Iron Gate Christmas parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, beginning at 1 p.m.
Sponsored by the Iron Gate Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association and the town of Iron Gate, this year’s parade theme is “Toy Story.”
Lineup begins at 12 p.m. on Tannery Road.
Entries will be divided into Religious Float, Novelty Float, Marching Unit, Equestrian Unit and others.

Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded in many categories. An awards ceremony will be held following the parade at the Iron Gate Firehouse. 
Light refreshments will be served, and the youngsters can expect a visit from Santa Claus.
Hot Springs
“Small-Town Christmas” is the theme for this year’s Hot Springs Christmas parade.
This year’s parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, beginning at 2 p.m. Lineup starts at 12:45 p.m. in the Omni Homestead valet parking lot on Shady Lane.
Entries are divided into Religious Float, Novelty Float, Marching Unit, Equestrian Unit and other.

The Hot Springs parade is sponsored by the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
Millboro
The Millboro Christmas parade will close the holiday parade season on Sunday, Dec. 22.
Sponsored by the Millboro Volunteer Fire Association, the Millboro parade begins at 3 p.m. at the Millboro Rescue Squad building and ends at Millboro Elementary School.
Lineup begins at 2 p.m.
“Bring you Christmas spirit,”?said Rhonda Grimm, an organizer of the parade. “All entries are welcome.”
Refreshments will be served following the parade and Santa will be on hand to meet and greet the children.
