Dear Editor,

As a life-long resident of the Alleghany Highlands and someone who deeply values the well-being and future of our community, I am writing to express my support for Delegate Terry Austin in his Republican Primary campaign.

Delegate Austin has consistently demonstrated his dedication to improving the lives of the people in our region, particularly through his leadership in strengthening our educational system. At the request of Alleghany County and the City of Covington, he carried legislation enabling our two localities to merge school systems. This forward-thinking initiative has increased efficiencies and reduced costs, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used more effectively to benefit our students and educators. To support the successful transition, he also secured $3 million in funding to provide essential resources to make this endeavor a success. His support was instrumental in bringing about this important change for our community.

Most recently, Delegate Austin once again proved his unwavering commitment to supporting our schools by taking immediate action during a pressing issue at our middle school. He personally contacted the Secretary of Education Aimee Guidera, and the Virginia Department of Health, to ensure that our school system had the resources necessary to safeguard the health and safety of our students. His swift response reaffirmed his accessibility and effectiveness in supporting the Alleghany Highlands whenever we need assistance.

Delegate Austin’s leadership, vision, and ability to deliver results have made a decidedly positive and lasting impact on the Alleghany Highlands. As we approach the Republican Primary on June 17, I strongly encourage you to consider his proven track record and steadfast commitment to the well-being of our region.
