RADFORD, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany JV Cougars didn’t just show up on Tuesday. They exploded into Radford and left nothing but dust and disbelief in their wake. Fueled by pure energy, confidence, and the absolute clutch gene of Savanna Hicks, the Cougars demolished Radford High JV 22-3 in what can only be described as a full-blown softball masterclass.

Savanna “Savage” Hicks was straight-up unstoppable, driving in FOUR runs on just two hits. She got the Cougars going early with a 2-run single in the first, then came back in the third and ripped a double down the line to add another RBI to her name. When Hicks is locked in like this, opposing teams might as well go home.

But this wasn’t a one-player show. The Cougars went off as a squad. They racked up 13 hits, FOURTEEN walks, and kept the pressure on from the very first pitch. Abby Patterson? Ice cold at the plate. She dropped in two hits and drove in runs like it was just another Tuesday. Callie Uzzell was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 and sparking the second-inning onslaught that saw Alleghany drop NINE runs like it was batting practice.

And don’t sleep on Brooklyn Taylor — not only did she drive in a run and score herself, but she also owned the mound. The freshman hurler pitched a strong four innings, striking out four and letting Radford know real quick they were in for a long day.

The energy was electric. Paelyn Osborne smacked a double and showed heads-up baserunning by tagging up and scoring, while Lydia Herstine came through late with a 2-run single in the fourth to really put the game on ice. Oh, and the defense? Clean. The Cougars turned a double play and kept Radford scrambling every inning.

By the end of the fourth, the scoreboard was screaming 22-3, and Radford knew they’d been steamrolled. The Cougars didn’t come to play — they came to dominate. Alleghany JV isn’t just a team this year — they’re a problem. The Lady Cougars will host Patrick County on Friday.
